{"id":288,"date":"2018-10-20T11:04:14","date_gmt":"2018-10-20T18:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/malat-webspace.royalroads.ca\/rru0025\/?p=288"},"modified":"2018-10-20T11:04:14","modified_gmt":"2018-10-20T18:04:14","slug":"lrnt-528-week-8a-ar-vr-activity-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/malat-webspace.royalroads.ca\/rru0025\/lrnt-528-week-8a-ar-vr-activity-3\/","title":{"rendered":"LRNT 528 &#8211; Week 8(a) AR\/VR &#8211; Activity 3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>I used to think<\/strong> that Virtual Reality was predominantly present in video games and very &#8220;high-tech&#8221; organizations. <strong>Now I think<\/strong> that it is becoming more mainstream where many of the functionalities can be applied to learning and educational environments.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Here\u2019s What\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 12pt\">Virtual Reality seems to be completely separate interactions outside of the \u201creal world\u201d, whereas Augmented Reality seems to be a way to take real-life scenarios and improve or enhance through technology (Wang, Callaghan, Bernhardt, White. &amp; Pena-Riox, 2017).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>So What\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 12pt\">After beginning to immerse myself in a research topic I lacked familiarity in, my interpretation is that both VR and AR are becoming more accessible and available to the average person.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Now What\u2026<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'times new roman', times, serif;font-size: 12pt\">In the world of education, my prediction is that as online learning communities and institutions grow, more fields of study will be accessible remotely with the help of VR and AR.
