As I continue down the learning journey of the MALAT Program, the connections from early 2018, starting with  LRNT 521 and the progression of 7 courses thereafter, becomes clearer, critical and vaguely conclusive to where I’m going, as I near the end of an extremely rewarding path.

My intentions with my research topic is share my learnings with peers & colleagues that are in the space of learning & adult education.  I was considering my primary audience to be individuals that influence curriculum design and teaching of content, therefore targeting instructional designers and facilitators.

As I start to fast forward to the ways I could share my research, several ideas came to mind.

  • As a long-standing member with the following associations Association of Talent Development (ATD), Training Mag (Training), Institute of Learning & Performance (ILP) and having attended several conferences over the past 5 years, I would strongly consider looking at the process and requirements to participate in a conference as a speaker in one of the following ‘tracks
      1. Design, Development & Implementation of Training
      2. Facilitation & Delivery
      3. Training Essentials
      4. Leadership Development
  • Alternatively, if I don’t have the opportunity to be selected for 2021, I would strongly consider looking at presenting with ATD, Training, and ILP in their virtual live-webinar platform in 2021, with the goal to try to get into the conference(s) in 2022

  • I would see myself also facilitating sharing ideas and findings from my research with several peers and colleagues in my professional and personal networks.  For instance here are some of the targeted groups I would see myself facilitating a professional development workshop for and/or a lunch & learn style session
      1. FortisBC learning departments which include Trades & Technical Training leaders, instructional designers and facilitators; Talent Development  & Leadership Training leaders, instructional designers and facilitators; Customer Service & Contact Center Training leaders, instructional designers and facilitators; external vendors we leverage as part of contract work for learning distribution
      2. Previous corporate organizations I have worked and their learning teams; GroupHealth, BC Hydro, First West Credit Union and Coast Capital Savings
      3. Colleagues in my network that are in the space of learning and finding the opportunity to attend one of their professional development training days and speak to my research; ICOM, MDA Training, Learning Strategies Group, iS Solutions

  • Lastly, I am also considering publishing a journal with Sage Publications.  As I took a look at their website it seems like a very extensive and rigorous process, however equally the satisfaction and accomplishment of something like an article and have it available as open source content for anyone to access would be tremendously rewarding.
