3 – Offer multiple platforms to engage and interact with learners. This encourages both learner and facilitator to “think outside the box”. My original post circled around engagement and interaction, I feel this is something which should always be considered in both synchronous and asynchronous learning environments.
2 – Learners want to be challenged with technology – so introducing new types of technology or unique ways to approach material could interest the learner on a deeper level. This comes back to one of my original questions regarding exciting the learner.
1 – It is hard to please everyone and even harder to find a balance of what will appeal to each individual participating. Offering a questionnaire at the beginning which asks “what do you want” could help the facilitator prepare and moderate a more well rounded lesson plan. Tying in COI (more specifically, a cognitive experience), we tried reaching out to individuals in our MM discussion, though some learners wanted more class engagement. Continually pulling back to an immersive collaborative community is essential regarding communication and open discussion.

Metaphor or Simile
Though, I still believe in my original metaphor: “Successful facilitation is like gardening; By creating a nurturing environment, different methods and approaches are applied and through trial and error we can observe what blooms” (Sharples, 2020). My thoughts regarding digital technology have expanded from this course. Focusing solely on the technology, opposed to the education and learning experience is like shoveling snow when it is still snowing – Yes, it clears a path but the ice underneath and continual drops of snow makes for a more cautious and uncertain approach.
