3<\/strong> <\/span>thoughts I have about digital facilitation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

  1. Digital Facilitation isn\u2019t the same as in person facilitation. I feel there has be a higher level of intentionality than in face-to-face learning, in order to create an online environment that encompasses a fulsome social, cognitive and teaching presence.<\/li>\n
  2. Effective written communication is key to successful online facilitation. Word choice and tone of words go a long way in written and verbal communications.<\/li>\n
  3. Having the right technology makes online facilitation much easier. Ease of use, accessible, multiple device functionality, etc. will create a more comfortable starting point for students to engage in the class.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    2<\/span><\/strong> questions I have about digital facilitation.<\/strong><\/p>\n

    1. What are some best practices to mediate diverse and conflicting perspectives online, particularity where there may contentious or sensitive topics?<\/li>\n
    2. What are creative strategies to produce genuine, two-way exchange between facilitator and learner in a largely asynchronous online context?<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      I feel that digital facilitation is about trying new things, evolving as you go along and being okay with mistakes. Whether an instructor is new to online facilitation or a seasoned veteran, with different students, different subjects and different technologies come new challenges and successes. Thus, the same tactics that worked in one class to create a great digital facilitation experience may not work in another class. The ability to pivot and try something new is important to be a great digital facilitator.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
