For this, I will use purposive sampling.

Purposive (or purposeful/judgement) sampling is a non-probability (not random) selection method used in qualitative research where participants are deliberately chosen by the researcher based on their area of expertise related to the research question (Campbell et al., 2020; Robinson, 2014; Schreier,2018). In my case, I will be selecting participants based on areas of knowledge including expertise/experience in OSCE use, (hopefully including faculty and past students), simulation design and OER or digital educational technology. There are several subsets of purposive sampling based on whether specific participants will be chosen in advance or if participants will be chosen over the course of the study such as in snowball sampling (Schreier, 2018). I am hoping to have participants selected in advance of beginning interviews with the help of my sponsor and advisor however, there is a possibility that a participant may recommend someone else to consult as I undertake interviews. Purposive sampling is appropriate as the participants will be selected based on their expertise and will provide valuable data to add to this research.

References

Campbell, S., Greenwood, M., Prior, S., Shearer, T., Walkem, K., Young, S., Bywaters, D., Walker, K., (2020).
