I have learned about <em>Open Education<\/em>, <em>The 5 R\u2019s<\/em>, and <em>Creative Commons<\/em>:<\/p>\n<p>Openness in Education means:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Education is effective only when it is open<\/li>\n<li>There is no education happening if the teacher is not sharing what they know<\/li>\n<li>Education is sharing<\/li>\n<li>Education is being open<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Thus, there are three pillars to Open Education:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><em>Open Education Resources (OER)<\/em> are in the public domain. This means anyone can legally and freely copy, adapt, and share;<\/li>\n<li><em>Open Pedagogy<\/em> is a set of teaching and learning practices are shared in the context of 5R (re-use, revise, remix, redistribute, retain);<\/li>\n<li><em>Open Technology<\/em> is limited to open educational resources that facilitate collaborative, flexible learning, and open sharing of teaching practices.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Furthermore, Clint explained the meaning of the 5 R\u2019s:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Retain:<\/strong> to make and own copies<\/p>\n<p><strong>Re-use:<\/strong> to use in a wide range<\/p>\n<p><strong>Revise:<\/strong> to adapt, modify, and improve<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remix:<\/strong> to combine two or more<\/p>\n<p><strong>Redistribute:<\/strong> to share with others<\/p>\n<p>Lastly, Clint unpacked the Creative Commons concepts and symbols:<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-324\" src=\"https:\/\/malat-webspace.royalroads.ca\/rru0160\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/176\/2020\/08\/CC-300x235.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"527\" height=\"413\" srcset=\"https:\/\/malat-webspace.royalroads.ca\/rru0160\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/176\/2020\/08\/CC-300x235.jpg 300w, https:\/\/malat-webspace.royalroads.ca\/rru0160\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/176\/2020\/08\/CC-122x96.jpg 122w, https:\/\/malat-webspace.royalroads.ca\/rru0160\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/176\/2020\/08\/CC.jpg 562w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 527px) 100vw, 527px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Photo Credit: <a href=\"http:\/\/images.huffingtonpost.com\/2014-03-25-creativecommonslicenses-thumb.jpg\">http:\/\/images.huffingtonpost.com\/2014-03-25-creativecommonslicenses-thumb.jpg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Learning is a very human activity.
