Her contributions have influenced computing environments through her research, writing, and teaching. Her focus has been on creating meaningful learning experiences and esthetically pleasing learning environments for children. This post highlights her life\u2019s significant work, contribution to the field of ed-tech. Thus, she is someone I deeply respect and view as a role model.<\/p>\n<p>In the sixties, Dr. Cynthia Solomon, along with <a href=\"http:\/\/papert.org\/\">Seymour Papert<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legacy.com\/obituaries\/wickedlocal-lexington\/obituary.aspx?n=wallace-feurzeig&amp;pid=162721388\">Wallace Feurzeig<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.legacy.com\/obituaries\/mercurynews\/obituary.aspx?n=daniel-g-bobrow&amp;pid=184741172\">Daniel Bobrow<\/a>, invented <a href=\"https:\/\/el.media.mit.edu\/logo-foundation\/what_is_logo\/history.html\">Logo<\/a>, the first programming language designed explicitly for children (Solomon et al., 2020). The authors described Logo as being \u201cmore than a programming language. It is a learning environment where children explore mathematical ideas and create projects of their own design\u201d (p.1). In 1971, Dr. Cynthia Solomon, Seymour Papert, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/biography\/Marvin-Lee-Minsky\">Marvin Minsky<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ae-info.org\/ae\/Member\/Paterson_Michael\">Mike Paterson<\/a> introduced the first Logo controlled <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.adafruit.com\/2018\/05\/03\/the-history-of-turtle-bots-part-1-hardware\/\">turtle robot<\/a>. She authored and co-authored much-published work. However, her seminal book, <em>Computer Environments for Children <\/em>(1986), was the first comprehensive reflection on ed-tech pedagogy. As well as her paper with Seymour Papert, <em>Twenty Things to do with a Computer <\/em>(1971), is well respected in the field.
