It Isn’t Meaningful if Nobody Hears it…<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

There is a responsibility associated with conducting academic research. The ethics and integrity of your work will provide the foundation needed for a lasting and meaningful impact. Among these responsibilities is also the requirement and need for you to disseminate your findings.<\/p>\n

With the work I am setting out to accomplish with my research, there are a couple of avenues I hope my research will serve to add knowledge. The first is the organization I work for, a small, rural, public school district. For this organization, I will report my findings to lead policy change in the way we deliver online education. Secondary dissemination of my conclusions may also help other B.C. public school districts decide to design and offer online education to their students.<\/p>\n

I plan to offer presentations of my findings for professional development to administrators and leaders in online learning implementation in not only my district but other districts in B.C., who are looking at modelling online learning for K-12 students with a mental health lens.<\/p>\n

Suppose my findings show that Mindfulness in online learning may be a valuable way to help achieve improved engagement and completion rates. In that case, I hope that other school districts will adopt a plan to integrate these findings into their policies.<\/p>\n

This responsibility to ensure our work is meaningful and heard should not be taken lightly. Our words have an impact. That impact cannot be implemented if part of this work does not include the proper dissemination of important findings.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
