Our conversation began with a discussion of our top rankings, with honesty and competency being at the top of all of our lists based on our personal experiences. We noted that our rankings may be somewhat context-specific because we work in very different industries. That being said, it was very interesting to see how many similarities there were in our rankings, with few differences despite our different contexts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Another fascinating component of our team conversation revolved around the characteristics and traits that we wished were on the list. These included:<\/p>\n<p>Credible<\/p>\n<p>Authentic<\/p>\n<p>Genuine<\/p>\n<p>Intentional<\/p>\n<p>Vulnerable<\/p>\n<p>Mentor<\/p>\n<p>Bringing the \u201cright\u201d energy<\/p>\n<p>Humble<\/p>\n<p>As our discussion progressed, we had a light-bulb moment and realized that there is a difference between traits and actions. Some of the characteristics that we wished were on the list could better be described as actions that resulted because of leadership traits.<\/p>\n<p>Then, we reflected and collaborated on questions and thoughts as they arose.\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">This was a thought-provoking activity for many reasons. Individually ranking the characteristics of admired leaders encouraged us to think about our own values and perceptions of leadership based on our personal experience. Engaging in the readings, reflecting on our rankings, and making modifications to our rankings was a fascinating exercise in the power of reflection.
