I am the Program Chair and Instructor in the Horticulture Program, Trades and Applied Technology, at Vancouver Island University (VIU). In general, horticulture students seek hands-on, real-world learning to earn credentials and employment. In addition, a shared student goal is to live holistically, to nurture themselves, their community, and the natural environment. These student goals and my background as a landscape architect (environmental design consultant) inform my teaching practice. I bring design thinking and collaborative learning strategies to my roles as chair and instructor. I aim to connect students with nature and reveal the vital role horticulture can play in conservation ecology. \r\n\r\nI am a registered professional landscape architect (BCSLA #286) and a graduate of the University of Guelph\u2019s Bachelor of Landscape Architecture honour program. More recently, I completed the Provincial Instructor Diploma (PIDP).
