When reading through the theoretical framework(s) blog assignment, I was immediately drawn to the technology acceptance model. Frankly, I feel like I am fighting a daily battle to have any new technology accepted within my corporation. There is validity to this; we are a large organization and adaption of new tech is costly, both financially and in regards to time needed to be invested. I often think of it as trying to turn a large ship… it’s a slow process if you want to make sure it’s done without sinking! So if there is a way to frame research that requires acceptance of technology in a way that makes it more palatable I’m very interested! <\/p>\n\n\n\n
My initial understanding of the technology acceptance model (TAM) was that the ideas and beliefs a user holds regarding the usefulness or necessity of the technology directly impacts their acceptance of said technology. What I now know is that the perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU) are equally relevant to the technology’s acceptance, and are considered the two key variables within this framework. I’ve also learned that TAM has developed twice, and the current TAM 3 includes the user’s experience, which impacts their PEOU (Tirpan & Bakirtas, 2024). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
