{"id":209,"date":"2023-05-16T15:08:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-16T08:08:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/malat-webspace.royalroads.ca\/rru0284\/?p=209"},"modified":"2023-05-16T15:13:59","modified_gmt":"2023-05-16T08:13:59","slug":"u2-activity-3-didp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/malat-webspace.royalroads.ca\/rru0284\/u2-activity-3-didp\/","title":{"rendered":"U2 Activity 3 &#8211; DIDP"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I\u2019ve been struggling with this deliverable because I can\u2019t get past item 1: Review and analyze scholarly and popular literature on digital presence and identity through the <a href=\"https:\/\/moodle.royalroads.ca\/moodle\/mod\/book\/view.php?id=652548&amp;chapterid=238093#u2\">Unit 2 readings<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019ve done ALL the assigned reading, and to a large extent the analyzing, but I\u2019m left with so many thoughts I can\u2019t seem to organize them coherently.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I\u2019m going to treat this like the black and white deliverable that it is in order to get unstuck.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>What is <\/em><em>your overall goal and purpose for cultivating your digital presence and identity?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My purpose for having a digital presence is so that I can participate in the program.&nbsp; Prior to beginning the program I did not have a purpose for my identity online, hence very little presence.&nbsp; Now I do, and so my goal is to be an authentic representation of my analog self and enter new spaces with intention and awareness.  I would also like to cultivate a place where people can reach me. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>What is your approach for achieving this goal?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to be seen as a \u2018real\u2019 person (Garrison <em>et al<\/em>. 1999) I commit to being on camera for synchronous activities I\u2019m participating in.&nbsp; My approach will also require patience and persistence to pull the thread on ideas in order to deliver the most authentic representation of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>identification of skills, knowledge gaps<\/em>:<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>There are so many things I don\u2019t know how to do yet, and much of it has to do with the Social Presence of the FOLC (Blayone <em>et al<\/em>. 2016).\u00a0 I\u2019m slow to articulate my thoughts and commenting on digital platforms is hard for me.\u00a0 I don\u2019t really do it.\u00a0 I don\u2019t give star ratings in the analog world, and you can count on one hand the number of comments I\u2019ve left online in the last 5+ years.\u00a0 I often joke that the comment section is where the internet goes to die, however they\u2019re not always negative, and I do see some value they can provide.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>What are strategies and approaches to address the identified gaps?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first step is practicing conversational feedback and aiming to do so in a timelier manner.&nbsp; I will also update my public profiles to allow for more engagement<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>What are measure(s) of success?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For me, the ultimate measure of success is engagement from outside the program.&nbsp; When we talk about nets and sets, it\u2019s really about the broader online arena than a passing grade, although I aim to earn that too.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">References<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Blayone, T., van Oostveen, R., Barber, W., DiGiuseppe, M., &amp; Childs, E.
