The Jisc Digital Capabilities Framework helped me reframe digital learning as more than simply knowing how to use tools. It emphasizes how digital capability includes communication, participation, identity, and wellbeing within digital spaces (Jisc, 2015). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

What stood out to me most was that digital capability looks different depending on context and role. As a middle school multimedia teacher, this reinforces the importance of designing learning environments that allow for multiple ways of engaging, rather than relying on narrow definitions of participation. The framework supports the idea that motivation, confidence, and meaningful contribution are shaped by design choices, not just individual ability (Jisc, 2015). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overall, this reading challenged me to think more critically about how digital systems and expectations either support or exclude learners. It encouraged me to reflect on my own teaching practice, as well as on myself as a learner, and how intentional design can better support diverse learners in digital environments and shape how I want to present myself through my blog posts in the MALAT program going forward (Jisc, 2015). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
