A deep sea dive into immersive learning technology

We are a group of Master of Arts Learning and Technology students studying the impacts of Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) technology and the impact they have on learning communications.  Communications is semantic, semiotic, visual, auditory, sensing, feeling, judging, intuitive, etc. The first rule of communications is “it’s never about your intention, it’s about impact.” This embeds soft skills, being able to read a room, understand a situation, having empathy, navigating difficult conversations, etc. With AR and VR technology blurring the lines of what is real and what is not, placing learners in situations where effective communications is the goal can possibly lead to more impactful learning considering the level of immersion. We aim to research and discover how communications skills can be taught and learned using immersive learning technology, how is it effective, what are the drawbacks, and how we can implement uch technology in a large organization? Join us as we don our wet-suits and immerse ourselves in the  open waters of AR and VR learning.
