Audrey Watters
Audrey Watters is a leading technology journalist, freelance writer, speaker and yes on our reading list with: The Monsters of Education Technology a collection from her public talks. Her Blog Hack Education is a collection of the historical and relevant current topic of interest in the field. She blogs regularly on topics including technology integration, game-based learning, open education resources, and education trends. Audrey has authored 5 books and is currently writing the next Teaching Machines.
I like her Californian approachable, unexaggerated vibe in condensing relevant current topics in the field and her research into the history of the Ed Tech Field. Her work has so far encompassed most major topics I’ve seen in our coursework thus far. If you want to build an online presence I suggest there is a model to study with Audrey Watters. Within minutes I was able to pull up a Curriculum vitae, personal and professional blog, disclosure and enough personal detail to make me trust her as a source. I also appreciate her entrepreneurial independence from commercial, or institutional influence and a little non-conformance with the badging of educational academia. I think it is immensely helpful to have @audreywatters https://twitter.com/audreywatters as a resource to identify current trends and have the historical Ed Tech journalistic reference she provides. @hackeducation https://twitter.com/hackeducation

Hi Lorne
I am growing to respect Audrey Watters more and more. She is a punk voice in an industry that can tend to take itself too seriously. I too really appreciate her entrepreneurial independence. I look forward to reading some of her books when I have a spare minute to read for the sake of pleasure. 🙂
