Marni's Global Digital Learning Journey

Disseminating Research

A significant reason for enrolling in the MALAT program was to expand my professional network by sharing best practices in learning and technology. In turn, the experience of learning from thought leaders in the EdTech community is better than I had anticipated. Moreover, contributing my research to an academic journal or professional publication would be a major accomplishment and an aspirational dream. In the meantime, I have flagged three short-term goals that I believe could be achievable upon completion of my Applied Research Project (ARP):

Local—Community of Practice (CoP):  I plan to develop a CoP (Wenger, 1998) where I will use my research as a foundation to start presenting and sharing best practices among my college community of instructors.

Provincial—Apprenticeship Manitoba: As I’ve narrowed my focus to trades education programs, I believe there could be value in sharing and presenting my research within my government skilled trades network, Apprenticeship Manitoba.

Global—Open Educational Resource (OER):  I’ve always wanted to create an evidence-based OER where I can give back professionally to the global learning community through Creative Commons.

In addition to these goals, I am discovering some professional affiliations to potentially join, such as the International Society for Technology Education (ITSE), The Institute for Performance and Learning (I4PL), and the Association for Talent Development (ATD), to name a few. These organizations have conference and workshop opportunities for sharing research. I look forward to learning other dissemination ideas from my classmates’ blogs to add to my future goals.

  1. An absolutely excellent plan Marni – thorough, well thought through and with lots of variety. I honestly can’t think of anything I’d suggest changing or expanding.
