As part of an inquiry to our own digital presence, the Resident/Visitor – Personal/Institutional quadrant map method was a suggestion to help us visualize our current state of engagement with the digitally networked world. The idea has been an interesting one. We, as a group, found avenues of interaction we didn’t even realize we were using, leading to an interesting notion that we now may have ‘unconscious interaction’ that carry long term implications. Perhaps we should be more deliberate? While I though it would be a fun arts and crafts project in the beginning (and easy to do), I quickly determined that there was a lot to think about. It also lead me to the realization that many of us in my generation who have adapted through the pre-internet world to where we are today may have been swept along in the tide without realizing we should curate a presence rather than accept what was easy, cheap, or popular in terms of both content and medium.
