The top three takeaways I have from the George Veletsianos audio recording are:

  • If a Canada Research Chair admits it can be overwhelming at the beginning of a project, it is both daunting yet reassuring. It’s sobering to hear that someone who’s prime position is research hasn’t cracked the code to make it easy, yet it relieves some stress to know that the sense of overload is normal.
  • It is great from a resource perspective to learn that George-
    • has spent time on the methodology of the research process itself
    • is available to us through RRU for consultation and coaching in this area!
  • His notion that you should be personally interested in the topic of research is valuable. I’m sure that, even for a Canada Research Chair, there are times when the process of conducting effective and proper research are frustrating and/or tedious. Without superhuman tenacity, the best way to get through those phases must be to have an internal connection and drive for the results.
