The internet is a ubiquitous reality today and a reflection on how and we use it is an interesting study. As a visitor to the internet represented by the left half of the continuum I search for information, entertainment, and use direct communication tools. The expectation is that we leave a small digital footprint and it is not a particular visible activity Fields (2012). The right side of the continuum has permanence as the information is more durable in nature, information resides in spaces for other to interact. Personal and Institutional are representative of the persona of identity and the continuum is expressed by the vertical axis. Mapping your use is a great aid in understanding of your personal online persona and the resilience of your contributions in the digital world.

Interesting central symbol Lorne. I like how you position search at the center of it all. Because, that’s really what it is, isn’t it? We all know how Google is invading so much of our lives, and it all began with search. But there’s clearly a reason why search is so central. The web is an immense library of information and tools. From so much to choose from, natually, the first step is to look for something in particular to explore further.
