I’ve been a teacher in BC’s public school system for over 15 years. In that time I have taught everything from Grade 1 to secondary International Baccalaureate Language and Theory of Knowledge courses. Currently I’m a secondary English teacher and Moodle Administrator at Mission’s Distributed Learning school, Summit Learning Centre. A substantial reason for my dedication to being a teacher is my far greater dedication to education. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in English and Psychology and Teaching Certificate from SFU. More recently, I completed my Technical Writing certificate from BCIT.
When I’m not in a school (either as a student or a teacher), I’m spending time with my family. I have two kids, nine and seven, who are undoubtedly my pride and joy. Our family is also growing in that we currently have a crested gecko, a gerbil, a mini-poodle and three cats; however, it still doesn’t seem like quite enough because I dream of owning a hobby farm (one day). My family spends our weekends driving to and from the kids’ sporting events, but in the summer we are at, in or on one of BC’s beautiful lakes. We live in Maple Ridge and take advantage of Golden Ears Park as much as possible. We also keep a trailor at Hatzic Lake and my parents live on Shushwap Lake. On BC’s rainy days, I enjoy relaxing with a good murder mystery novel or movie.
