Overall Goal

My focus during this program is to become aware of how I interact in digital spaces and contribute in ways that feel realistic and comfortable with who I am professionally and personally. In my work in mental health, I have learned that people are more likely to participate when environments feel supportive and inclusive. I am starting to see that my own online participation works much the same way. Throughout the MALAT program, I hope to become more at ease sharing ideas in online spaces while still being intentional about where and how I engage.

Approach

My approach throughout this program will be to pay closer attention to the kinds of online environments where participation feels most genuine. Some online spaces make it easier for me to contribute openly, while others feel draining or impersonal. I want to focus on participating in ways that feel natural and sustainable alongside work, school and my personal life.

Knowledge Gaps

One area I would like to better understand is how to translate the way I communicate in in-person environments into online settings. Much of my professional communication happens through facilitation and discussion. Written online communication feels different because tone and connection can be harder to interpret. I have also noticed that I tend to participate differently depending on the environment. In smaller or discussion-based settings, I usually feel comfortable engaging and sharing ideas. Public online environments can feel less natural to me, so this is something I would like to continue working on throughout the program.

Strategies and Approaches

To address these gaps, I want to become better at sitting with the uncertainty that can come with online communication. In person, I am used to noticing reactions and adapting in the moment, whereas online communication can make it harder to gauge how something is being received. Part of my approach will be learning not to treat online participation as something that always needs to feel formal or carefully constructed.

Success

I will consider this plan successful if online participation begins to feel less mentally draining and more aligned with how I naturally communicate and learn in other settings.
