It ‘s been five years since I’ve examined technology in education academically, I feel like there is a whole new world of information to explore. As a learning experience designer in global learning, I am extremely interested in AI and how our world of work may change in the next few years.
As a team, we have chosen AI to focus on for our assignment. In terms of the tools available, I am very new to the Open AI tool, I just subscribed last week. Even as I type this blog post, I’m noticing the updates that WordPress has made to their site. I’m interested to see how my work will be changed over the next few years as the Bank looks at utilizing Open AI or a variation thereof; to assist in learning and development. I’m specifically interested in the discussion by Haleem et al., (2022) on [how] “businesses can develop distinctive experiences for new audiences, boost engagement, and build trust with the aid of ChatGPT” (Haleem et al., 2022, p.6).
In my current role at the Bank, we are not using AI technology (yet), as part of creating and developing learning assets for global mandatory learning. Our content is specifically internal, meaning the content is specific to the Bank. I’m curious to know how the Bank, may “alter a generic model based on [our]own data to match [our] goals and reduce bias” (Haleem et al., 2022, p.6).
I intend to practice using ChatGPT more and explore its capabilities but also, I’m thinking about how our organization may implement this technology to aid us in developing more engaging learning for our large global internal audiences. Understanding that our Bank is very risk averse; policies, procedures, and processes need to be in place before we implement this technology in our team, which may take years.
I’m still in the throes of reading and researching articles, using the OECD conference on AI as our learning event which has provided lots of different avenues on the topic to explore. I am anxious to receive responses from the larger class to see what everyone else is focusing on for their individual topics. I welcome feedback on my post here for any who may be focusing on this area as well or any other comments others may have.
It’s exciting to be back after 5 years. I have much to learn about the technology, APA 7, and the latest updates to our WordPress blogs!

Welcome back, Andrea! Thank you for sharing your background and the topic that you will explore. You will bring a unique perspective to using AI in your context. This type of technology could benefit your organization’s learning and development activities, given the global scale and variety of cultures and languages that could shape a unique learning experience. The challenges you raise align with those faced by some of us who work in public health, and our sectors may be the last to implement this technology into our systems and ways of working. But as you point out, based on your experience with WordPress and how much it has changed in 5 years, I wonder how much AI will change or influence our lives before some of the more risk-averse organizations pick it up. Will they always be one step behind, or will building trust with AI make future changes quicker to implement? I suppose only time will tell on this one.
Thanks again for sharing!

Thank you, Leah. My organization just issued a communication on the use of language models where we need to ensure we adhere to our “Code of Conduct when interacting with any third-party tools or technology” (Sparks, 2023). In this email, it provides us with some “Do’s” and “Don’ts”. I’m interested to explore this further in my research and use my workplace as an example. I wonder too, what we will be using the tool for in the future of our work, though I think it may be too soon to tell.
Thanks again for your reply!
