I am learning much about academic research these days. I understand one of the considerations I need to contemplate, when wanting to do research myself, is how to write a good research question. Since the research question will determine a successful research project, I need to consider several components. I came across the Center for Innovation in Research and Teaching website which is available at https://cirt.gcu.edu/research/developmentresources/tutorials/question and I was able to find several interesting resources. The main page has a good summary of important details to consider when developing a research question, two key points in particular stood out for me:
1. Does the research topic interest me?
If I want to get deeply involved in my research project I need to make sure the topic is of interest to me. A great motivator for finding answers is the passion to want to solve a problem.
2. Will my research question produce results?
Will I be able to collect data that will help me to examine my research topic more deeply? I will need to be able to find evidence for both contradicting and supporting perspectives and in the end I need to be able to analyze the results. Therefore I will need to know in advance if my research is measurable.
