Question: what makes a good research question?

A good research question:

  • is nonbinary,  more than a simple yes or no, it is a question which offers the opportunity to explore deeper issues and a deeper academic landscape,
  • often builds upon research made by others,
  • can be supported by data,
  • is not too complex or ambiguous
  • is neutral. It doesn’t drive toward a  preconceived outcome,
  • ….and very importantly, a good research question should hold great interest for the researcher, because it takes a lot of effort and motivation to make it to the finish line!
