Starting a new research project and deciding where to start can be overwhelming. Basically, you are starting from an idea and changing that idea into solid data in the process. According to Veletsianos (2017), there are two main steps to starting a research project and they are as following:
Research Question
The first step is to figure out what you are trying to find out by completing your research project, and in order to do that, you need to formulate a research question.
Background Research
After you complete your research question, and you know what answer you are trying to find, you need to complete background research. It is important to understand your research topic and find out if there is any related data already existing in regard to your research question.
A lot of thinking and brainstorming goes behind an idea before it becomes a research question and after that to become firm and verified data to answer that research question.
