Topic

How might emerging education technologies such as artificial intelligence, bots, machine learning, virtual/augmented reality influence facilitation?

Learning Objective

The week’s discussion will explore how emerging education technologies such as artificial intelligence, bots, machine learning, virtual/augmented reality can influence facilitation.  With a focus on how facilitation can be incorporated into a Virtual reality learner safety activity.

Learning Resources and Reading

  1.  Introduction video (recorded by team members)
  2.  Content within the asynchronous platform.
  3.  Safety training using Virtual Reality (Video)
  4. Reading: Making VR a Reality in the classroom.

Asynchronous Activity(s)

  1. Reading course content in learning platform Moodle
  2. Participate in a discussion forum on Mattermost.
  • Using a gif express your feeling on VR in the classroom.
  • Discussion Prompt: using reading, learners are required to respond to a minimum of two posts.

Synchronous Session

Date: Sunday, October 17 @ 5 pm PDT / 7 pm EDT

  1. Facilitators introduce brief icebreaker activities.
  2. Facilitators will discuss how virtual/augmented reality can influence the facilitation of safety.
  3. Learners will participate in a post-assessment activity.

  1. Moodle
  • The asynchronous learning platform, user friendly, organized.
  1. Mattermost
  • Used for asynchronous discussions during the week, learners are already familiar with the platform as it is currently used.
  • Used for synchronous sessions, accessible from any country.Social, Cognitive and Teaching Presence within Facilitation

  1. Introduction email
