Reflecting on our our introduction to Foundations and Learning Technologies. We were challenged to write about our past and why we are in the Master of Arts and Learning and Technology programme.

Hello everyone. The accompanying photo is of my brother and I from our early days in Canada. We immigrated to Canada as refugees in 1974.My Mum risked her life to smuggled gold and some money out of the country. She put gold and money in the cuffs of our sleeves, pants, and jackets. This photo always warms me; it signifies an end and a beginning.
Today, I stand as the mother of six children. We are very close. My eldest Kallum lives in Victoria and works at RRU.
I have been a journalist for print, radio, and television. That has led me to where I am now, A Professor in Film, Television, TV News and Radio Broadcasting. I am taking this course to continue my commitment to adult learning and improve my teaching and resources.
TEEN Katia
I was in high school during the 80’s. Music, movies, and dancing were intrinsic to my teenage experience; using someone else’s driver’s license to get in to see the Clash and the Cure (no photo). The video I have chosen is from AHA. I did not like them in the 80’s. However, my children love it, and it has become a staple for our karaoke & games nights. It signifies how the torch gets passed generation to generation. Only person to hit that high note is Kallum.
The accompanying video is for educational purposes only.
