As I mentioned in my padlet, I am planning on tying my applied research program into a project I have been working on, which is the Cadmus Trades Teaching Chair at my institution (SAIT). The Cadmus project I am working on is to promote the machining trade by training high school teachers in the use of machine shop equipment. This will be done through a hybrid training model with online OER (created during LRNT-528) and in-person training at my institution. Once they have finished the training, a 4-month mentorship program will occur at each school so teachers are trained on the equipment at their school. Part of my final deliverables for this project is a short report and presentation to stakeholders. However, I would like to use my applied research project to provide a more thorough and in-depth report. On top of researching what worked well and what needed to improve, I would like to research further a set of recommendations for post-secondary institutions partnering with secondary schools in professional development. The report I create will be given to all the stakeholders (my institution, school boards taking part, and teachers) of my project. I envision this being posted online either on my blog or my institution’s website. I would like to know what you all think of this!
