• Description: Clearly and concisely describe the purpose of your digital learning resource.

The purpose of the digital learning resource is to develop awareness among adult Canadian consumers of their current role in the bioeconomy and available opportunities for them to take a more active role, because they want to be better informed to align their behavior with their social and environmental values.

• Learning Goals: Clearly describe your intended learning goals for the digital learning resource.

The learning goals for this resource are:
– Define bioenergy and bioeconomy
– Describe how everyday activities affect the bioeconomy
– Explain how bioenergy relates to you
– Identify your social and environmental values related to bioenergy and bioeconomy
– Describe opportunities to more of an active role in the bioeconomy

• Intended Audience: Identify the intended audience for your digital learning resource.

The audience is adult Canadian consumers.

• Rationale: Explain how you think the digital resource will meet the needs of the intended audience.

The digital resource will give real examples of how bioenergy is used in Canada, so that the learning can be more readily applied for Canadian learners. It will also allow time for reflection to define a learner’s values and then contextualize the terms they have learned to their life. Mostly though it will provide awareness of bioenergy.

• Tools: Provide a summary of the tools that you will use to develop your digital learning resource and clearly justify why you would like to use them.

I want to try to use Google Classroom for this digital learning resource but if there are too many limitations on my design, as I have not used this platform before, I will be implementing my design onto Articulate Rise. I will be using a video editor to edit a current video on bioenergy and utilize specific sections for the interactive digital resource that I am creating.

• Assessment Plan: Describe any assessment and/or evaluation methods that you will use to ensure audience has achieved the intended learning goals.

There will be two check-ins activities to get the learner to contextualize the learning to their own environment as well as ensure understanding through application of their own context to the assessment question. There will also be one reflection activity that will allow the learner to evaluate their values relating to bioenergy and the bioeconomy.

• Learning Theories & Instructional Design Principles Used: Identify the specific learning theories and instructional design principles that will be used in the creation of your digital learning resource and include an explanation of how the theories and principles will inform the design of your digital learning resource.

Constructivism and learner-centeredness are central to the design of this digital learning resource. This is due to the learners constructing their knowledge through contextualizing experiences as well as focusing on accommodating for multiple learner needs through offering multiple media throughout the module.

• Instructions for Use: Clearly and concisely outline instructions for how learners will use your digital learning resources.

The learner will begin with an introduction and quick navigation of the module. Once completed, they will be taken to the first step of defining the key terms. From there, they will be open to complete all steps in whichever order they prefer. In each activity, they will be offered resources where they can learn more that are also listed on a resource page that is linked at the end of the resource.

• Plan for Use: Describe how the digital learning resource will be used. If it is an open resource, how will you share it publically, and if it is not an open resource, why not, and how it will be shared/used in context etc.

The resource will be shared publicly to anyone as long as they sign into Google Classroom. If Articulate Rise is used, a review link will be provided where people can make notes for feedback.
