What Makes a Good Research Question

It is essential to have a good research question to guide you through your research paper, project, or thesis. It should focus on your goal and give you clear and concise data.

All research questions should :

  • Be Focused on a single issue
  • Be Researchable using primary or secondary sources- the primary being the most beneficial
  • Be Feasible to answer during a time-specific time frame
  • Be Specific allowing to answer directly with concise responses
  • Be Complex allowing you to spread out your data over a Academic Paper or Thesis
  • Be Relevant to your area of study
