When creating my technology map it caused me to pause and think about how I am using tech and how much I am using it.

Like so many other people, I rely heavily on technology in my day-to-day life both personally and professionally. Professionally, I use technology for most things in my classroom. This is partly due to the expectations of my district, but also because my students need support to learn how to safely use various forms of tech so I want to help.

About 4 years ago I chose to begin sharing some of my teaching experiences and ideas on a professional Instagram account. This allows me to connect with other teachers around the world to socialize, get ideas, or even commiserate when needed. But, it also allows me to share my experiences, successes, and failures, and more importantly models to my students what is a safe way to document and share my life on social media.

Since starting the MALAT program I have noticed a bit of a shift in how I am using technology. Before I was mainly using tech for entertainment or work-related content. Now, I am using different forms of communication with Slack and Discord and creating my WordPress site. I am also spending more time starting to research again, which is odd to admit I missed from my previous post-secondary days.
