A Brief History of Educational Technology

Please find my (brief) timeline of the history of educational technology in the K-12 setting below. I focus on the technological tools that’s been used over time. Like many of my LRNT 523 classmates, I’ve had issues with embedding the timeline. Instead, please click this link:

I’ve decided to try Time Graphics for this activity. Enjoy!

  1. Hi George,

Thank you for sharing Time Graphics. I haven’t seen this tool before. I like the ability to connect media to points on the timeline. Is it possible to collapse the decades that contain no content to make it quicker for users to view?

  2. Thanks for the comment Fiona. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to figure that out. I don’t think Time Graphics was made with the thought that users may have large gaps in their timelines. The best way to see ahead in my timeline is to zoom out. I think Timeline JS does a better job at organizing events, but I wanted to try something different. I do like how Time Graphics shows how many years ago an event occurred (e.g., first major book printed in Europe was ~563 years ago).
