Two years may feel like a short time, but since April 2018 life has been moving at a snail’s pace. Every day full of new articles, knowledge, understandings cramming my brain to the point where I’ve forgotten schedules, faces, and basic motor skills. Thinking about my final paper is the most I can muster, anything beyond that to how will I publish/distribute it? That’s another matter.

Working in healthcare I have a myriad of methods I can distribute my findings. The easiest method is through health newsletters. I oversee the Primary Health Care Matters newsletter and have access to a number of others around Alberta with the goal of informing and educating healthcare professionals. It would be fairly easy to create a space for my paper to distribute to my target audience.

The second method would be through the Canadian College of Health Leaders (CCHL). Many of the members of CCHL use the group’s resources to assist with publishing articles and research mainly through their publication Healthcare Management Forum. Several of my colleagues have produced their works and had them published through CCHL. I have very close ties with CCHL Alberta leadership and would likely be able to ask for publication assistance.  Publishing with CCHL asks eight main questions:

  • Is the topic relevant and timely to health leadership?
  • How original is the work?
  • Does the content advance knowledge in the practice of health leadership?
  • How well is the connection made between theory and practice?
  • Do the authors use sound methodology?
  • Are the conclusions appropriate and are they generally applicable to other situations?
  • What can be done to improve this paper that has not been specified above?
  • Is the manuscript clear, concise, and logical? (Canadian College of Health Leaders, n.d.)

I do have other avenues I may pursue, but they all have a common healthcare concentration with a focus on advancing healthcare systems, policies, and methodologies including education for healthcare professionals.
