I have chosen to research a colleague of mine, Barbara Wilson. I chose Barbara because she was not always in the field of education. I worked with Barbara at CIBC where she managed a project to implement a new LMS system for the Learning and Development Department. Barbara was also working in the Leadership Development area where she was responsible for a new project for Career Development within the Learning and Development Team. This was a brand new area for the company at the time.
Since then, Barbara has contributed to the Career Management field and provides business professionals or otherwise with career consulting. She also provides those individuals with career education so that individuals can obtain the appropriate education for their achievement of their career goals. Her work provides those with encouragement and provides an individualized plan for those wishing to achieve educational and or career goals. She has obtained a certificate in CTI’s coaching program and sits on the board of directors for the Ontario Association of Career Management Professionals (OACM). Her company is called Thrive Career Consulting. She writes many blogs on LinkedIn and Twitter and always has great articles to read regarding education and career management and how the two can be a struggle especially when people change careers later on in life and they may require further education to get the careers they want. She is an inspiring individual and one that I consider my role model. Here are some links to her personal pages and her company pages.
