What?
During the week there were some good discussions around the topic of OER. The synchronous session and Hypothesis activity allowed us to explore OER and OEP and how they can be applied in our individual contexts.
So what?
In my context of corporate learning, there are definitely some opportunities for deeper exploration and knowledge construction through OEPs however, as discussed there will also be some challenges.
Now what?
What I would like to do is take small steps in opening up the learning in my organization by using OERs in a way that demonstrates the benefits (small wins!) —for example, using OERs to support learners who want to improve their skills in programs like Microsoft Excel where there is a vast amount of open resources available. I believe this is a good place to start because it is not a high-stakes undertaking that might cause pushback from the organization for things like privacy issues or public sharing of proprietary information.

I look forward to reading my peer’s blogs for their thoughts on moving forward with OER!
