My blog for LRNT526 looked into some of the elements of mixed reality in education that I found more interesting. For me mixed reality is something that I am extremely interested in so while working on this topic that I needed to ensure I was critical. The responses that were posted on my work also helped to guide me to where I could further explore this topic.
We looked at the development of soft skills using mixed reality and explored how it could be better used in the teaching. This was a great discussion in that we were able to look at it’s use from four different perspectives.
The next topic I chose which was teaching art and culture using mixed reality. This was an opportunity to look deeper into a topic that I wanted to further explore and gave me the opportunity to look at how this technology might be used within my own work at Bow Valley College.
My next post was more inspired by the class itself and a reflection of online learning. This related well to the mixed reality topic in that building an online community was something that I found to be an important topic discussed in mixed reality learning where a community may not even exist.
The next post was one inspired by comments on previous blog posts. I looked into the mixed reality use in the education of special needs students. This was a topic that hasn’t been explored as much as I thought it would have been and from the exploration I did I think it could be explored substantially with a deeper focus from educators.
In the end, I think I left with more questions than answers but some really interesting directions that could be taken and an appreciation for what is available and being created in the mixed reality world.
