In reflecting on the readings in Unit 3 and the impact structure will have on my plan for the creation of my digital presence and digital identity, I found the blog post from Beetham, H. (2015, Nov 10) particularly interesting. The way in which she describes the six elements of building digital capability brought a structure to what I believe I can use to help create my own digital presence. I certainly favour this type of structure around the key elements of “ICT Proficiency” which seems to outline your basic technological capability and moves to “Digital Identity and wellbeing” which outlines “the capacity to develop and project a positive digital identity or identities and to manage digital reputation” (Beetham, H. (2015, Nov. 10). I also thought not only about these six elements and the respective criteria, but also how to move from a learner profile to a researcher profile within those definitions. I think my ultimate goal would be to move to the “effective digital leader profile” (Beetham, H. (2015, Nov. 10). Again, this is paramount to my digital plan in order to keep up to date on current systems and to find which medium works best for me. I certainly can relate to one of the elements that I believe will be most difficult which would be to “Model good practice in minimizing digital distraction/overload and enabling a good work-life balance” (Beetham, H. (2015, Nov. 10) taken from her post on “Being an Effective Digital Leader”. I believe working towards this “Digital Leader Profile” will be the most challenging but a great reference for me in terms of working out my plan. I am continuing to read on and discover other types of structures and how they will impact my plan.
